Virginia Ann Miller

Virginia Ann Miller, 85, of Decatur, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Indiana.

She was born on July 21, 1939, in Klinger, Iowa, to the late Rev. Walter C. and Esther (Piehler) Vetter. Virginia was united in marriage to Alan L. Miller on July 19, 1958, by Virginia's father, Rev. W.C. Vetter at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and he preceded her in death on June 10, 2016.

She graduated from Decatur High School class of 1957. Virginia was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she served on the Ladies Society and the Altar Committee.

Virginia worked at Country Farms, and was a Hostess at Bob Evans. She faithfully served her family as a homemaker.

First and foremost, was her faith in God which led her to daily devotion and prayer. Virginia loved to spend time with her family. She was an avid fan and never missed her grandchildren’s activities and events. For years, she enjoyed feeding and watching the birds.

Survivors include her daughter, LeAnn (Rickey) Thieme of Decatur, Indiana; son, Matthew (Angela) Miller of Auburn, Indiana; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Brian) Clemons; Crystal Thieme; Trisha (Kyle) Sorlie; Karissa (Dustin Newcomer) Miller; Danae (Jacob) Morgan & Kaeden Miller; and six great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Evie, and Dylan Clemons; and Oakley, Henrick, and Bradley Sorlie.

Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Bradley Alan Miller on December 26, 1978; great-granddaughter, Paige Clemons; two sisters, Carol Myers and Gloria Nelson; and three brothers, Eugene, Ronald and Kenneth Vetter.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur, Indiana with Rev. David Koeneman officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the church.

Preferred memorials can be given to the Immanuel Lutheran Church – Renovation Fund.
