Thomas R. Hannie

Thomas R. Hannie, 70, of New Haven, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on January 13, 1955 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Ralph R. and Fern S. (Stucky) Hannie.

Tom worked at Fort Wayne Carriage House as the chief accountant since the facility opened.

During his junior year in college, he experienced a mental health issue. He worked his way through his illness by never giving up on himself. He became very disciplined and worked his way back to being a successful person in both his professional and personal life. He completed his college education, and graduated with an accounting degree from Indiana University. He took pride in his personal and professional accomplishments. One of his personal successes resulted in meeting and developing a lifelong relationship with Betsy Dickerson, who became his constant companion and confidant. He volunteered for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Goodwill, and Park Center. He later served on the board at Park Center. He was quietly dependable and absolutely supportive of his family.

Survivors include his life partner, Betsy Dickerson of New Haven, Indiana; brother, Dan S. Hannie of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and sister, Susan M. (Larry) Goshorn of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with Pastor Forrest Tabor officiating. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial can be given to Fort Wayne Carriage House.
