Sharon Sue "Susie" Darras

March 24, 1941 — June 12, 2026

Our loving wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma, Sharon Sue “Susie” Darras, 85, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Susie battled through multiple health issues over the past several years, but she approached each one head-on with a strong spirit and positive attitude.

Susie was born on March 24, 1941, in Allen County, Indiana, to the late Grover C. and Leona G (Leonard) Grabner. On September 17, 1960, Susie was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) J. Darras at St Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville, Indiana, and they celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage in 2025.

Susie is survived by her husband Richard, her daughters Cheryl (Charles) Newbauer and Michelle (Vance) Renninger, and her son Todd Darras. She is survived by her grandchildren, who brought endless joy to her life which includes Kristin Newbauer, Andrea (Justin) Glass, Mia Renninger, Anna (Joe) Wyatt, Elijah Renninger, Tessa Renninger, Isaiah Renninger, and Abram Renninger. She is also survived by her 5 ½ month old great-granddaughter, Finleigh Glass, who she was so excited to see and hold, and yet to be born great-grandson PJ Wyatt.

Susie’s family was the most important part of her life, and so many cherished memories were made over her 85 years. She was always there for all of us with a hug, a smile, and with words of encouragement. Plus, she was an outright fun grandma, and her grandkids loved the sleepovers, bonfires, games, and all the laughs. She traveled all over to support her grandkids in their sporting events and life moments.

Susie was a graduate of Monroeville High School. She loved and trusted in the Lord and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Haven, Indiana. Sharon worked at Lincoln Life and in retail, but her life’s passion was caring for her family. We all appreciated the individual attention Mom gave each of us, as well as her great talent in being able to whip up a feast from thin air. She would go out of her way to uplift people’s spirits, and make them smile.

Susie loved the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, and made numerous trips to St Louis with her family to watch them play. She looked forward to taking short day trips to the casino with Dick to play the slot machines. She was a great cook, was very creative, and could repair and build many things. She loved working outside and tended her gardens with attentive care, just as she did with the loved ones in her life. Along with her husband Dick, she was always looking to share the bounty of their garden and orchard with others.

Susie was also preceded in death by her 6 brothers, Arnold, Don, Charles, Dale, Lindy, and Loren Grabner, and 2 sisters, Audrey Swanson and Eileen Sloan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville, Indiana, with Father Nathan Maskal officiating. Burial will follow at Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana.
