Samantha A. Schaefer

Samantha Aileen “Sami” Schaefer, 34, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Sunday, August 30, 2026, at her residence.

Born on December 30, 1991 in Kokomo, Indiana to Tim and Mia Hartleroad, she was united in marriage to William J. Schaefer on June 28, 2013.

Sami enjoyed spending time with her son and her nieces and nephew. Sami enjoyed listening to music and riding four wheelers on her family’s property. Sami loved spending time visiting with her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, William J. Schaefer of Decatur, Indiana; son, Mason Schaefer who lives at home; sister, Kayla (Ricky) DesChamps of Michigan; brother, Chris Hartleroad of Fort Wayne, Indiana; father, Tim Hartleroad of Roanoke, Indiana; three nieces, Leah Heiser, Emerson & Sawyer DesChamps; one nephew, Gannon Heiser; and William’s family, including his parents, William A. & Pompy Schaefer of Decatur, Indiana; and his sister, Mary Heiser of Decatur, Indiana.

Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.

Donations in Sami’s memory can be given to the family with checks payable to William J. Schaefer.
