Robert (Bob) Reinhard, 89, passed away on October 27, 2026, at Swiss Village in Berne, Indiana.
He was born on February 14, 1937, to the late Ulrich and Maryann (Liechty) Reinhard in Berne, Indiana. Bob was united in marriage to Betty (Steury) Reinhard on March 22, 1959, and she survives.
After graduating from Berne French High School in 1955, Bob worked at Berne Furniture for six years before beginning his career at CTS as a draftsman. Over the course of 40 years, he advanced through various management roles, which included several international trips. After retirement, he worked for the Adams County Council on Aging, where he was a comfort to others while driving them to appointments.
Bob's faith was the foundation of his life, guiding the way he lived, loved, and served. As a member of First Mennonite Church in Berne, he spent decades teaching Sunday School to various age groups as well as serving on and leading numerous boards and committees. Bob was a conscientious and trusted leader who spoke honestly and listened thoughtfully. In retirement, he continued his Christ-like service by volunteering alongside Betty in the Camp Friedenswald kitchen. He also assisted in disaster relief efforts with Mennonite Disaster Service, chainsaw in hand, well into his 70’s.
Bob prioritized time with his family and was a devoted, hands-on father. When his children were young, the family could often be found on bike rides, hikes, camping trips, and other outdoor adventures. He actively supported his children's interests, making time to attend countless events through the years. Bob and Betty were avid gardeners and enjoyed years of biking and walking together. Later, he shared his love of laughter, adventure, and playfulness with his grandchildren, often surprising them with his boundless energy and youthful spirit. He enjoyed decades of Sunday evening popcorn dinners with his family and was known for serving his grandkids ice cream after dinner, reminding them, “There’s always room for ice cream because it fits between the cracks. ” In recent years, one of his greatest joys was spending time with his three great-grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, Betty, and their children Angie Beasley of Normal IL, Kathy (Thomas) Fox of Berne IN, Chris (Jane) Reinhard of St. Louis MO, and Nate (Katie) Reinhard of Greeley CO; eight grandchildren, Luke Beasley, Kyle Beasley, Emily (Timothy) Ludden, Matthew (Jillian) Fox, Caroline Miles, Elizabeth (Ian) Sholders, Sarah Reinhard, and Joshua Reinhard; and three great-grandchildren, Lowen and Archer Fox and Lila Jo Ludden.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Lehman, and his brother, Larry Reinhard. He is survived by his sister, Connie (Gary) Yoder.
Following a private interment at MRE Cemetery, a Memorial Service and visitation for Bob will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at the Swiss Village Auditorium. A time of visitation will begin at 12:30 pm, immediately followed by the service starting at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Mennonite Disaster Service or the Swiss Village Endowment Fund.
