Patricia R. “Pat” Poole, 83, of Decatur, Indiana passed away early Saturday morning, July 18, 2026 at her residence.
She was born on December 22, 1942 in Murphysboro, Illinois to George Wayne and Mary Josephine (Barva) Ruble. She was united in marriage to Robert Poole and he preceded her in death in 2014.
Pat was one of the first EMT’s for Adams County when the county became responsible for emergency medical services. She was very proud of being a caregiver as an LPN. She viewed herself as an educator and caregiver to many over her life. Pat was a longtime journalist which included time at the Decatur Daily Democrat and Murphysboro American.
She enjoyed spending time gardening, reading, fishing, cooking, and sewing.
She is survived by her children, Andrew (Tammy Driskill) Wiseman of Decatur, Indiana; Joseph (Dawn) Wiseman of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Peter Wiseman of Decatur, Indiana; Paula (Ed) Ludwig of Harlan, Indiana; Damien Wiseman of Fort Wayne, Indiana; William Wiseman of Decatur, Indiana; Gabriel Wiseman of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Ann Corbett of Eagle River, Alaska; siblings, Deloris Roseland of Murphysboro, Illinois, Wennie (Pete) Ortiz of Convoy, Ohio, Georgia Ruble of Salem, Illinois, Tammy (Garet) Fox of Olney, Illinois, and Kevin (Bernice) Ruble of Cisne, Illinois; brother-in-law, Kenneth Pitts of Odin, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Ludwig, Tyler Ludwig, Samantha Ludwig, Madeline Corbett, Caroline Corbett, Jace Corbett, Caitlin Corbett; and three great-grandchildren, Trevor Ludwig, Emmarie Ludwig, and London Ludwig.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jim Corbett and a sister, Cindy Pitts.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Masses to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church are preferred. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Pat’s memory to plant something beautiful, create something with their hands, or spend time with those they love.
