Patricia L. “Pat” Copper, age 92, of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Adams Heritage in Monroeville, Indiana.
Pat was born on June 1, 1933, in Arcola, Indiana, the daughter of the late Edwin M. Bruick and Violet M. (McNeal) Bruick. She was united in marriage to Carl R. Copper on October 3, 1950, in Jeffersonville, Indiana; he preceded her in death on October 19, 2010.
A lifelong resident and devoted member of her community, Pat was a faithful member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Monroeville, where she sang in the choir and served as a former church council member. She was also a member of the Von Bora Society.
Pat graduated from Monroeville High School and dedicated more than twenty-two years to serving as the Nursery School Director at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She also worked as a nursery school teacher and caregiver at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest Daycare. Pat had a love for raising and showing llamas and enjoyed crafts, flowers, her pets, and traveling. Above all, she cherished being a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Pat is survived by her daughters, Monica (Don) Scott of Monroeville, Indiana, and Carla (James) Thompson of Abilene, Texas; her sons, Randy (Denise) Copper of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Martin (Renee Roussey) Copper of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Cathy S. Copper of New Haven, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and her beloved companion and fur baby, Josie. Pat also enjoyed many beautiful friendships in her lifetime, including a unique friendship with the Balcázar family from Peru.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Copper; two brothers, Edwin Bruick in infancy and Larry W. (Margaret) Bruick; and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Caleb Sarazen, both infants.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Monroeville, Indiana, with Pastor Walter Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Monroeville Memorial Cemetery in Monroeville, Indiana.
Family and friends will be received from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, and again one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
