Mildred “Millie” Morton-Rohrbach, 93, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 12:29 p.m. at Cedarhurst Assisted Living in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on January 31, 1932, in Decatur, Indiana, Millie was the daughter of the late Carl and Ida (Dirkson) Nuerge. She graduated from Monmouth High School in 1950 and went on to become a Bank Manager at Lincoln National Bank, from which she retired in 1992.
Millie was first united in marriage to John W. Morton in 1952 at Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1988. She later married Wilmer Rohrbach on January 4, 2001, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest. Wilmer also preceded her in death on May 13, 2020.
Millie was a dedicated member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest, in Fort Wayne. She was passionate about genealogy, meticulously researching and compiling extensive family histories. She also cherished Polka dancing, particularly at the annual Octoberfest in Hoagland, and enjoyed traveling extensively with her family, including two memorable trips to Germany for genealogical research.
Survivors include her daughter, Faye Bauer of Antwerp, Ohio; two sons, Michael (Terry) Morton of Monroeville, Indiana, and Douglas (Sheila) Morton of Fremont, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Brian (Heather) Hattersley, Kalah (Ron) Badarak, Kendra Rohrbach, Kelsey (Joe) Closson, Kate (Matt) Cobb, Kristofer (Laine) Morton, Catherine Morton, and Scott (Ashley) King; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Millie is also survived by the Wilmer Rohrbach Family: Doane (Vilma) Rohrbach, Cynthia Reynolds, Larry (Linda) Rohrbach, Nancy (Michael) Meadows, and Shirley (Allen) Scott, all of Fort Wayne; son-in-law, Thomas Dietrich of Hoagland; 14 step-grandchildren; and 24 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and two husbands, John W. Morton and Wilmer Rohrbach, Millie was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Rohrbach; son-in-law, Greg Bauer; step-daughter, Diane Dietrich; and three brothers, Edgar (Linda) Nuerge, Paul (Marie) Nuerge, and Walter (Esther) Nuerge.
A funeral service for Millie will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest, with Pastor Josef Henning officiating. Burial will follow at Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville. Visitation will also be held from 9:15-10:15 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the church.
Preferred memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest.
