Melvin F. Kleine

Melvin F. Kleine, 88, of Decatur, Indiana passed away early Friday morning, June 27, 2025, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.

He was born on December 4, 1936 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Edwin and Martha (Hille) Kleine. Melvin was united in marriage to Garnita Hartman on November 11, 1990, at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen.

He served in the United States Army.

Melvin was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen where he served in various offices.

He retired from International Harvester in 1983 and also drove for Buchan Logging after retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Garnita Kleine of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Berneice Clifford of Mountain Grove, Missouri; step-son, Perry Williams of Fort Wayne, Indiana; four step-grandchildren, Brooke, Brittany, Brandon, and Bryan Williams; and sister-in-law, Marceil Kleine of Decatur, Indiana.

In additions to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold H. Kleine; a sister in infancy; and brother-in-law, Fred Clifford.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor Peter Brock and Pastor Berett Steffen officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bingen.

Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2025, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Preferred memorials are to Worship Anew or St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen Parking Lot Fund.
