Maxine E. Bultemeier

Maxine E. Bultemeier, 83, of Decatur, Indiana, passed on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Adams Woodcrest.

Maxine was born on September 4, 1942, in Decatur, Indiana, to the late Max and Louise (Boenker) Thieme. She was united in marriage to Donald Bultemeier on August 17, 1979, and together they shared nearly 47 years of marriage, with their anniversary just days away.

A faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur, Maxine found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She dearly loved the farming lifestyle and especially enjoyed attending farm auctions with Sue. In her quieter moments, she found relaxation in working word searches and puzzle books, always appreciating a good challenge.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Bultemeier of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Sue Ellen Bultemeier of Decatur, Indiana; two sisters, Paulette Yates of Okeechobee, Florida and Eloise Thieme of Decatur, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Lester (Doris) Thieme, Edmund Thieme, Ruben Thieme, Milton Thieme, Merlin Thieme, and Hilbert Thieme; two sisters, Thekla Thieme and Gretchen (Nils) Ericson.

A funeral service for Maxine will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur with Pastor Kevin McGladdery officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., on Wednesday at the church prior to the service.

Preferred memorials are to Heart to Heart Hospice or Worship Anew.
