Mary Ann Bebout, 88, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born on May 20, 1937 in Andrews, South Carolina to the late Harlan H. and Sallie O. (Caulder) Jones.
Mary Ann was united in marriage to Jack D. Bebout on February 20, 1955, in Adams County.
Mary Ann was a member of the Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church. She was also a member of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution).
In 1970, she began her career at Adams Central Schools, becoming a steady presence as a bus driver until her retirement which followed 34 years of being responsible for the well being of the children on her route.
Mary Ann enjoyed Reading, Thursday lunch date with friends following her hair appointment (a time Jack knew not to schedule conflicts), canning and gardening for her family as they grew up,
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Jack Bebout of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Renee Kaehr (the late Mark Kaehr) of Bluffton, Indiana; son, Bradley (Mary) Bebout of Decatur, Indiana; son, Stanley (Janet) Bebout of Decatur, Indiana; son, J.D. Bebout of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Doris Ray of Decatur, Indiana; six grandchildren, Adam (Nikki) Kaehr, Aaron (Amy) Kaehr, Steve (Katie) Lengerich, Travis Bebout, and Randi Bebout; and six great grandchildren, Landon Kaehr, Drew Kaehr, Alaina Kaehr, Emma Kaehr, Kam Kendrick, and Heidi Lengerich.
She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Mark Kaehr; four brothers, Karl, Glenn, Benjamin, and Harvey Jones; and a sister Martha Von Gunten.
Private family services will be held with Pastor John McCullough officiating. Burial will be at Tricker Cemetery in Monroe, Indiana.
Preferred memorials can be given to Heart to Heart Hospice, ACCF Angel Fund – Heart, Daughters of the American Revolution (checks payable to Antoine Rivarre Chapter 4099IN), or Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church.
