Martha L. Miller, 93, of Berne, Indiana, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior early Thursday morning, February 5, 2026, at Swiss Village in Berne.
She was born on December 5, 1932, in Berne, Indiana, to the late James T. and Dessie S. (Ludy) Bailey. Martha was united in marriage to C. LaVerne Miller on November 8, 1953, in Berne, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on June 23, 2022.
Martha was a member of the Bethel Brethren Church in Berne, Indiana, and she served in various capacities.
She retired in 1998 from the office of Dr. Robert L. Boze as a Medical Secretary.
In her spare time, Martha enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and reading. She loved cooking and will be especially remembered for her chocolate chip cookies.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Jacalyn (Dean) Zimmerman of Berne, Indiana; son, Bradley (Mary Jane) Miller of Syracuse, Indiana; son, Douglas (Michaeleen) Miller of West Chester, Pennsylvania; daughter, Pamela (Scott) Mitchel of Decatur, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Nora Eberly, Alice Journey, and Chloe Davidson, and three brothers, Guy Bailey, Robert Bailey, and Blaine Bailey.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Bethel Brethren Church in Berne, Indiana, with Pastor Joe Nass and Pastor Trent Eikenberry officiating. Burial will follow at Backesto (Springhill) Cemetery in rural Monroe, Indiana. The service will be live-streamed and accessed from the Zwick & Jahn Facebook page.
A visitation for the Swiss Village residents will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Swiss Village Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne, Indiana, and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
Preferred memorials can be given to Bethel Brethren Church or Stillwater Hospice.
