Marjorie E. Schlemmer, age 86, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Envive in Berne, Indiana.
Marge was born on July 25, 1940, in Decatur, Indiana, to the late Cloyce R. and Helen F. (Blazer) Wolfe.
She was a 1958 graduate of Decatur High School and retired from K-Mart in Decatur after more than 23 years of dedicated service.
Marge was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schumm, where she was a longtime member of the Ladies Aid group and formerly served as a Sunday School teacher.
Family was very important to Marge, and she especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She loved afternoons filled with playing cards, watching Andy Griffith videos, and taking walks around the neighborhood with them. These simple moments together created many treasured memories. Marge also found great peace and enjoyment in bird watching. Tim’s family thoughtfully created a bird-feeding sanctuary at her home, allowing her to watch the birds gather and feed, which brought her many days of happiness. She was also especially fond of cherry pie and was known to send a special “request” to her granddaughter.
Survivors include daughter, Rebecca (Timothy) Hunnicutt of Rockford, Ohio; two sons, David (Kate) Schlemmer of Marysville, Ohio and Tim (Stephanie) Schlemmer of Ohio City, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, Brandy Mae (Aaron) Bergman, Rachael (Daniel) Girard, Natasha (Brandon) Kline, Joseph (Elisabeth) Hunnicutt, Tessa (Cody) Vogel, Aaron Schlemmer, Alexandria Schlemmer, Jacob Schlemmer, Tim Schlemmer, Adam Schlemmer, Phillip Schlemmer, Bethany Schlemmer, and Benjamin (Alexis) Schlemmer; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death a daughter, Marsha Schlemmer in infancy; brother, Robert Wolfe; sister, Beatrice Hess; and grandson in law, Kevin McDonald.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schumm, with Pastor Hayden Folks officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Schumm.
