Marguerite E. Szajko

Marguerite E. Szajko, 66, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at her son's residence.

She was born on November 13, 1959, in Cook County, Illinois, to the late Robinson C. and Betty (Horvath) Kane.

Marguerite was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy in life was caring for her family. She lovingly cared for her grandchildren.

In her free time, Marguerite enjoyed playing video games, sewing, knitting, and working on puzzles. She expressed her creativity through a variety of arts and crafts projects. She also enjoyed tinkering on vehicles with her son.

Survivors include two sons, James (Stephanee) Slaasted of Decatur, Indiana and Steven (Sara) Slaasted of Chesterfield, Virginia; sister, Diane Geniesse of Seattle, Washington; seven grandchildren, Sabrina, Eva, Carter, Nicolette, Damien, Remington, and Kacelin; and two great-grandchild Rhett and Tristan.

She was preceded in death by son, Michael Scott Slaasted.

Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.

Preferred memorials can be given to Adams County Animal Shelter or PAWS of Adams County.
