Lucy A. Price

Lucy A. Price, 92, of Berne, Indiana, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 19, 2026, surrounded by her family at Swiss Village in Berne.

She was born on June 5, 1934, in Jay County, Indiana, to the late Dexter D. and Leta L. (Bechdolt) Steed. Lucy was united in marriage to John W. Price on December 31, 1977, in Portland, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on August 28, 2018.

She was a member of Cross Community Church in Berne, Indiana.

Lucy was employed at C.T.S. in Berne, Indiana, where she retired following over 30 years of service.

She was a proud member of the Red Hatters. Lucy loved to bake and cook, and she was well known as a gracious hostess. She was always full of compliments and encouragement to many people. Lucy loved being on the go. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Penny (Michael) Byers of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, William D. Lare of Paris Crossing, Indiana; sister-in-law, Sue Ann Steed of Redkey, Indiana; four grandchildren, Chad (Janna) Byers, Molly (Karl) Yarling, Abby (Brooke) Willoughby, and Nathan (McKenzie) Byers; and 13 great-grandchildren, Bailey, Wyatt, Leyton, Case, Grace, Brittany, Maesie, Charlie, Quincy, Kashton, Colbie, Leo, and Luca.

Lucy was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne E. Steed, and her grandson, Adam Lare.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Swiss Village Auditorium in Berne, Indiana, with Pastor Brad Buckley and Pastor Mike Wertenberger officiating. Burial will follow at M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne, Indiana.

Family and friends will be received from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Swiss Village Auditorium.

Preferred memorials are to Cross Community Church, Berne, or Swiss Village.
