Lillie N. Bleeke, 93, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Wednesday evening, February 25, 2026, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born on February 22, 1933 in Georgetown, Texas to John Miller & Hilda (Bielss) Miller. Lillie was united in marriage to Norbert L. Bleeke on February 1, 1953 in Walburg, Texas.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur, Indiana. She served the Lord by volunteering to make comforters and quilts for relief, she sang in the Choir and Lutheran Chorale, was a member of the Altar Guild, and a member of the LWML, where she also served as President. She was a long-time coordinator of Zion’s famous soup and sandwich fundraiser. Lillie was also a member of the Adams County Home Extension Club – Merry Mixers.
Lillie graduated from Jarrell High School in Jarrell, Texas in 1951. She served her family full time at home. She raised her family by teaching them the many values they still hold dear today. She had an independent spirit which was inherited by her children, along with a servants heart.
She enjoyed gardening and canning, quilting, and serving on the New Orleans Work Team, following Hurricane Katrina. What she loved the most was spending time with her family.
Lillie is survived by her husband, Norbert L. Bleeke of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Deborah Ruth (Joseph) Bleeke-Sanjour of Schererville, Indiana; daughter, Cynthia L. (Rich Orman) Bleeke of Decatur, Indiana; son, Gary N. (Holly Chambliss) Bleeke of Cleburne, Texas; daughter, Karen A. Buescher of Decatur, Indiana; brother, John W. (Sandra) Miller of Georgetown, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Joel (Erin) Stubbs, Eric (Anna Truong) Stubbs, Jeremy (Brittany) Stubbs, Allison Bleeke, Steven Bleeke, Caroline Bleeke, Cassandra (Jonathan) Wagner, Jessica (Chad Oxner) Buescher, Samantha Carpenter, Amellia Buescher, and Melissa (Jerry Steiner) Buescher; and 24 great-grandchildren, Christopher Wagner, Caleb Wagner, Cayden Wagner, Mason Wagner, Kelsey Wagner, Emmalyn Wagner, Ella Stubbs, Aiden Stubbs, Evelynn Stubbs, Vivian Stubbs, Levi Stubbs, Colin Stubbs, McKenzi Oxner, Maximus Oxner, Madilynn Oxner, Alexander Oxner, Alannah Oxner, Jackson Carpenter, Ruby Carpenter, Lillian Buescher, Sebastion Buescher, Donnovin Reinders, LJ Steiner, and Adalynn Steiner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lee Dora Miller; brother, Leon Miller; sister, Ruth Burks; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Buescher and Nicholas Bleeke; and great-granddaughter, Kinsley Wagner.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur, Indiana with Pastor Zach Oedewaldt officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Decatur.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur, and also from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026 at the church prior to the service.
Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church, Zion Lutheran School, or American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
