Leona M. Moore, 73, of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Adams Woodcrest.
Leona was born on April 16, 1952, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Quentin and Rosemary (May) Freiburger. She was united in marriage to Jerry Moore, who preceded her in death.
She was a proud graduate of Bishop Luers High School and went on to dedicate over 40 years of service to General Electric, where she worked in customer service.
Leona’s days were warm and kind, a heart of gold that always shined.
Over forty years with steady grace, at General Electric, she found her place.
Her pies were famous, sweet delight, each slice a joy, each taste just right.
Through the woods she loved to roam, hunting morels at her Moorewoods home.
Down a long lane where sunlight played, her laughter lingered, never to fade.
“The Gang” would gather-laughs around, cards of euchre spread all around.
Her family filled her days with love, blessings she thanked the stars above.
Often called a saint so true, her kindness touched all that she knew.
She found such joy in every line-creating cards that sweetly rhymed.
Creative, gifted, she had a way of turning kindness into a brighter day.
A gracious host, a joyful friend-her love and light will never end.
Survivors include her daughter, Michelle (Matt) Knipstein of Hoagland, Indiana; son, Bryan (Beth) Moore of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Nancy Springer of Ossian, Indiana; brother, Dale (Kathy) Freiburger of Markle, Indiana; sister, Judy (John) Nonemaker of Plymouth, Indiana; brother, Doyle (Amy) Freiburger of Roanoke, Indiana; six grandchildren, Emily (Dalton) Greene, Nathaniel Moore, Mitchell Moore, Benjamin Moore, Samantha Knipstein, and Cal Knipstein; and many nieces and nephews.
