Judith H. "Judy" Messman

Judith H. “Judy” Messman, 84, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Monday afternoon, September 21, 2026 at Adams Heritage in Monroeville.

Judy was born on April 2, 1942 in Allen County, Indiana to Amuel and Lillian (Gerardot) Barclay). On June 16, 1962, she was united in marriage to Larry R. Messman at St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon in New Haven, Indiana.

Judy graduated from Hoagland High School. She was a faithful member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon, where she generously helped prepare funeral meals for many years. She was also a participant of the Harvest House and enjoyed assisting with the church’s Ham and Turkey Dinner each Thanksgiving.

Judy was employed in the deli at Kroger in New Haven for many years before retiring from CME in Monroeville, where she worked in production. She also operated an in-home daycare for several years, caring for and helping to nurture many children over the years.

Judy found great joy in camping, crocheting, sewing, canning, and gardening. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were very important to her and brought her great happiness.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Larry R. Messman of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Rick (Carla) Messman of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Beth (Todd Wagner) Messman of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Becky (Jeff) Gerardot of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Ryan (Aimee) Messman of Monroeville, Indiana; three sisters, Carol Arend of New Haven, Indiana, Gloria (Mel) Vachon of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Monica Nott of Monroeville, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Cassie Messman, Alicia (Jarod) Luginbill, Justin Messman, Maryssa (Marc) Cotter, Jakob Kitzmiller, Jared Gerardot, Taylor Gerardot, Erika Gerardot, Liliann Messman, and Clayten Messman; and six great-grandchildren, Landen Sallee, Arlen Luginbill, Wren Luginbill, Marc Cotter, Louis Cotter, and Cecilia Cotter.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Neil Barclay; and sisters, Donna Nichter, Dorothy Muldoon, and Betty Pequignot.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2026, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon with Father Stephen Colchin officiating. Burial will follow at St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery, Besancon.

Family and friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church.

Memorials can be given to Monroeville EMS or St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon.
