John Jarrett

John R. Jarrett, 77, of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday afternoon, August 7, 2026, at his residence, following a three-month battle with Leukemia.

John was born on March 4, 1949, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Fred Jarrett and Elva (Hilsmier) Robinson. On June 12, 1971, he was united in marriage to Jan Hoffman at Marquardt Lutheran Church in Monroeville, Indiana.

A 1967 graduate of Ossian High School, John earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Industrial Engineering Technology from IPFW. He dedicated 26 years of his career as a cost estimator for Magnavox/Raytheon before later retiring from ITT. John also honorably served his country in the United States Air Force Reserves.

He was an active member of Marquardt Lutheran Church, where he served as president of the church council. Deeply involved in his local community, he spent years coaching youth baseball from T-ball through Pony League, serving as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, and participating in the Hoagland Elementary PTA. In his free time, John enjoyed watching Purdue sports, fishing and making memories at Clear Lake, traveling, and above all, spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jan Jarrett of Monroeville, Indiana; his children, Matthew (Beth) Jarrett of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Renee Jarrett of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and David (Angie) Jarrett of Pierceton, Indiana; his brother, Jim (Teri) Jarrett of Auburn, Indiana; and his four beloved grandchildren, Ella Jarrett, Brayden Jarrett, Lilly Jarrett, and Brianna Jarrett.

John was preceded in death by his brother, Lynn Jarrett.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Marquardt Lutheran Church in Monroeville, Indiana, with Pastor Ralph Klinker officiating. Burial will follow at Marquardt Lutheran Cemetery, with military honors being rendered by the American Legion Post #43.

Friends and family will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Preferred memorials may be given to Leukemia Research Foundation or Marquardt Lutheran Church.
