Jerry L. Gerber age 84 of Decatur, Indiana passed away Friday evening April 10, 2026.

He was born July 11, 1941 in Wells County, Indiana to Edward Ulrich Gerber and Sadie Solome (Schwartz) Gerber.

Jerry and Donna L. Keller were united in marriage on October 24, 1970, at the Decatur Church of God, beginning a life rooted in faith and family.

A 1959 graduate of Adams Central High School, Jerry attended International Business College before returning home to manage the family farm following the passing of his father. Throughout his career, he worked in dairy farming and at Concord Homes in Monroe, eventually retiring in 2008 from Fleetwood Motor Homes after 33 years of dedicated service as a material handler. In his retirement, he enjoyed working in metal fabrication alongside his brother-in-law, Richard Kipfer..He was a longtime member of the Decatur Church of God, He served as the church treasurer for over two decades, from 1994 to 2017, and acted as the chairman of Faith Promise from 1990 to 1994. Jerry lent his voice in the church choir for many years, and he shared his faith with the younger generation by teaching children in Bible Mountaineers. His heart for service extended beyond his local community through participation in several domestic and international work/mission trips. Outside of his work and ministry, Jerry found joy in reading, gardening, and woodworking. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren. In his later years, he became well known for his sense of humor, always ready to brighten someone's day with a classic “dad joke.”

Jerry is survived by Donna L. Gerber his wife of over 55 years of Decatur, Indiana; daughter Debby (Mark) Neuenschwander of Berne, Indiana; daughter, Lisa (Steve) Imel of Goshen, Indiana; daughter, Amy (Chuck) Fenwick of Angola, Indiana; son, Kevin (Cara) Gerber of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Phil (Gretchen) Gerber of Meridian, Mississippi; sister Rosie Kipfer of Bluffton, Indiana; brother-in-law Charles P. Ratz of Brookeville, Indiana; sister-in-law Rita Gerber of Decatur, Indiana; also many nieces and nephews, 6 grandchildren, Tobey Fenwick, Jerod Fenwick, Andrew Imel, Colten Gerber, Isabelle Gerber, and Isaac Imel.

5 step-grandchildren, Dawn Bixler, Craig (Shawna) Neuenschwander, Tyler (Hannah) Neuenschwander, Tyler (Monica) Fenwick, and Jenna Fenwick. 15 step great-grandchildren, and 3 step great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by three brothers, Danny, Ron, & Steve Gerber, sister Peggy Ratz, in-laws Richard Kipfer, Jane Gerber

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2026 at the Decatur Church of God. Officiated by Mo Hodge and Pastor Brent Doster, and Chuck Fenwick. Burial will follow at Ray Cemetery in Monroe, Indiana

Family will be receiving friends at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home-Decatur from 3:00 to 7:00 on Wednesday April 15, 2026 and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday.
