Jean D. Ternet, 85, of rural Monroeville, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5th, 2025, at her son and daughter-in-law’s home with whom she had been living. She enjoyed farm life for the last 3 plus years, including combine, tractor, semi and gator rides.
Jean was born a twin on April 12th, 1940, in Adams County to Emerson and Valera (Hart) Wass.
Jean was united in marriage to Larry Ternet on January 12, 1963. They shared 51 years together and had 5 children. Larry preceded her in death on March 3, 2014. Their eldest son Randall “Randy” Ternet died unexpectedly on March 10th, 2023, at the age of 57.
She graduated from Decatur high School in 1958 and later attended the Parkview School of Radiology in Fort Wayne for two years. Jean was a radiology technician for well over 50 years, most of her career being employed by Paulding County Hospital in Paulding, Ohio for over 25 years until her retirement in 1998. She also worked part time at the Hicksville Hospital for ten years. After “retiring” from the hospital, she continued working for MobileX in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She traveled to nursing homes, jails, etc. to X-ray patients. In 2015 at the age of 75 she “re-retired”.
She was a member of the St. Louis Besancon Catholic church in New Haven, and a proud member of their choir. She was a former member at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville, where she also sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Tri-State Twin Club. She and Larry had been very active in the Fort Wayne Corvette Club in which she held an office and participated in many of their activities. After Larry’s passing, she continued by taking their grandkids with her to parades and earning many points within the club.
Jean loved working outside, planting her garden and tending to her flowers. When first married, Larry would tell her she shouldn’t be working on Sundays, but it wasn’t work for her, she enjoyed it! She also volunteered keeping the flowers up at both St. Rose and Besancon for many years. Jean also enjoyed crocheting, traveling, and corvettes. She loved collecting dolls and baskets and enjoyed showing them to anyone who stopped by for a visit.
