Janine K Scheumann

She was born on May 10, 1950 to the late Donald Rebber and Hilda (Benzinger) Rebber in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Janine was united in marriage to Donald K. Scheumann on October 3, 1970 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Soest.

Janine was a devoted member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bingen, where she faithfully shared her love of music as a choir member for more than 50 years. She was also an active member of the church’s Ladies Guild, generously giving her time to assist with funeral dinners and serve her congregation in meaningful ways.

A 1968 graduate of Hoagland High School, Janine dedicated herself to raising her children, cherishing the years she spent caring for her family. After her children were grown, she began working at Norwest Bank and later completed her career as a research assistant at Star Financial Bank.

Janine found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved working on puzzles, reading, and especially spending time with her grandchildren, proudly attending and supporting their many activities. She was also an enthusiastic fan of IU Basketball and rarely missed a game.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Donald K. Scheumann of Hoagland, Indiana; daughters, Stephanie (Jamie) Frazier of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Hollie (Jason) Mowery of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her four cherished grandchildren, Abigail and Alivia Mowery, and Allison and Leah Frazier; as well as her brother-in-law, Tom Tassler of Napoleon, Ohio.

Janine was preceded in death by a brother, Lon Rebber and sister, Judy Tassler.

Funeral services for Janine will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen, with Pastor Peter Brock and Pastor Berett Steffen officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bingen.

Friends and family will be received from 3–5 and 6–8 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Preferred memorials are to Worship Anew or Heart to Heart Hospice.
