Janet Elaine Clifton

October 8, 1937 — August 7, 2026

Janet Elaine (Germann) Clifton, 88, of Wren, Ohio, was called home to the Lord on Friday evening, August 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Donald Dean Clifton, who passed away on June 28, 1994, whom she dearly missed.

Jan was born October 8, 1937, to L. Gaylord and Helen I. Germann, who both preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn (Bob) Brittsan.

Jan was a devoted mother to her daughter, Pamela Renee (Kenneth) Williamson, and her son, Cameron Scott (Lachelle) Clifton. She was an incredibly proud grandmother to Andrew (Virginia Tovar) Williamson, Krysten (Corey) Stone, Mekale (Jeremy) Tribolet, Alyson (Taylor) Ellis, and Colby (Sofia) Clifton. She found immeasurable joy in being "Grandma" and was also blessed to be a great-grandmother "G.G." to Adeline, Noah, and Hudson Stone, Mavery, Marlow, and Dane Tribolet, Sawyer, and Vivian Ellis. Jan was also a loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Jan was dedicated to her career as an insurance agent, starting at Central Mutual Insurance, moving to HBW Insurance, and retiring from Purmort Bros Insurance.

Jan poured her heart into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was faithfully present at school programs, sporting events, graduations, and family celebrations, never missing an opportunity to cheer on the ones she loved. Whether she was helping prepare and clean for a party, mending jeans and altering her granddaughters' dance costumes, playing ball in the yard, or lending a hand wherever it was needed, Jan's acts of service were one of the many ways she expressed her love. Her unwavering presence and eagerness to accompany any shopping trip are gifts her family will treasure forever.

Her steadfast faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her family. A lifelong member and long-term secretary of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, she lived with a heart for Jesus and eyes set on eternity, leaving a legacy of unceasing prayer and unconditional love for all who knew her. She was the counselor, problem solver, and go-to for any of life's problems, offering practical help and her unwavering encouragement that, "It's in God's hands." Every farewell was, "I'm praying for you," and "God bless you".

Her family finds peace knowing she is now reunited with her husband, Don, and her parents, and resting in the presence of her Savior.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2026, at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Ohio City, Ohio, with Pastor Roger Peters officiating. Burial will follow at Evangelical Protestant Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the loving and compassionate care from Jan's in-home caregivers the past few years, Connie, Kristy, and Ariah, as well as the staff at Hearth and Home Assisted Living and Interim Hospice.

Preferred memorials can be given to St. Thomas Lutheran Church.
