Gabriel S. "Gabe" Steiner

February 1, 2010 — November 4, 2026

Gabriel Scott “Gabe” Steiner, 16, of Berne, Indiana, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday afternoon, November 4, 2026, surrounded by his family at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Gabe was born on February 1, 2010, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Scott A. and Amber N. (Dull) Steiner.

A sophomore at South Adams High School, he approached life with boundless energy, a strong work ethic, and a genuine love for those around him. He balanced his studies while working for JO Landscaping and taking great pride in working alongside his family on R&S Steiner Farms.

A natural athlete who loved sports, he competed in football, wrestling, and baseball, and especially treasured the hours spent lifting weights with his Uncle Andy. Whether he was on the field, the mat, or simply hanging out with his friends, his enthusiasm was contagious.

Devout and unwavering in his faith, he lived out his servant’s heart as a member of First Missionary Church, active volunteer in the 4th and 5th grade Boys Sunday School and served on the Youth Group Student Leader Team. He remained deeply involved in Campus Life and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Agriculture was in his blood, reflected in his dedication to FFA and 4-H, where he finished his seventh year showing starter calves, and recently was elected as the Treasurer for the South Adams FFA. Gabe also furthered his growth in Business Professionals of America (BPA).

Above all, he loved his family and friends and had a rare, kind-hearted gift for making everyone he met feel truly special. Eager to learn from others and deeply invested in the lives of those he encountered, he left a lasting mark of warmth, faith, and joy on everyone blessed enough to know him.

He is survived by his parents, Scott & Amber Steiner of Berne, Indiana; siblings, Grady, Gerrick, and Graylynn Steiner; maternal grandmother, Amy (Brent) LeFever of Berne, Indiana; maternal grandfather, Ron (Celia) Dull of Berne, Indiana; and paternal grandmother, Nancy (Ron) Stevens of Berne, Indiana.

Gabe was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Rick Steiner; uncle, Matthew Steiner; and cousin, Cole Dull.

A funeral service for Gabe will be held under the lights at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2026, on the South Adams High School Football Field, with Pastor Rick Schwartz officiating. The family requests that you dress in football attire. A private family burial will take place at M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne, Indiana.

Family and friends will be received from 12 noon to 9:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2026, at the First Missionary Church in Berne, Indiana.

Memorials can be given to the Gabe Steiner Scholarship Fund.
