Douglas Lee “Doug” Baumann, 63, of Ossian, Indiana, passed away surrounded by the ones he loved most and was greeted in Heaven by those who loved him first Thursday morning, May 14, 2026, at his residence.
Doug was born on November 17, 1962, in Decatur, Indiana, to the late Richard Baumann and the late Laura (Neuenschwander) Sprunger. He was united in marriage to Kim Douglas on May 12, 1990, at the Decatur Church of God in Decatur, Indiana.
Doug retired from Hershey’s Corp. in Bluffton, Indiana, following 20 years of service. He was a member of The Bridge Community Church in Decatur, Indiana, and the Adams County Men’s Bowling Association.
Doug loved spending time outdoors, fishing, gardening, and bird watching. He was an avid bowler and a dedicated lifelong Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Baumann of Ossian, Indiana; two sisters, Gloria (Randy) Brodbeck of Monroe, Indiana and Beth (Steve) Koehler of Linn Grove, Indiana; step-sister, Suzette Lammlein of New Haven, Indiana; mother-in-law, Sue Douglas of Decatur, Indiana; two sisters-in-law Amy (Cliff Longsworth) Douglas of Berne, Indiana and Mendi (R.J.) Strickler of Decatur, Indiana; brother-in-law, Brian (Karen) Douglas of Decatur, Indiana; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Omer Sprunger, and father-in-law, Jerry Douglas.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at The Bridge Community Church in Decatur, Indiana, with Pastor Dave Fox officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2026, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Preferred memorials are to The Bridge Community Church or Stillwater Hospice.
