Donna Ruth Roth, 95, of Huntington, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday evening, September 2, 2025, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.
She was born on December 22, 1929, in Adams County, Indiana, to the late Edward F. and Frances M. (Borne) Jaberg. On October 30, 1949, Donna was united in marriage to LaVern “Chick” Roth at Zion Reformed Church in Decatur, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on November 30, 2024.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Decatur, where she had served on numerous boards. She was active in the Women’s Guild and the handbell choir at church, as well as a volunteer for the Adams County Heart Club.
Donna was a graduate of Decatur High School and attended Ball State University. She was employed as the Adams County Clerk for four years and deputy clerk for 11 years. Prior to that, Donna worked as a secretary for North Adams Schools from 1970 to 1981.
She was an avid reader. Donna’s faith was very important to her, and she participated in many Bible Studies during her active years. During Donna and Chick’s retirement years, they volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels and spending winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama. She loved watching and attending high school basketball and football games. Her passion was following college basketball and filling out March Madness Brackets, recently she won the Heritage Pointe March Madness Bracket in 2025.
Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl (Terry) Larson of Huntington, Indiana, Michelle Price of Pinellas Park, Florida and Susan (Kent) VanDyne of Firestone, Colorado; nine grandchildren, Tyler Roth (Samantha Gillespie) Larson, Lucas Edward (Hannah Choo) Larson, Justin (Sofia) Price, Carli (Matt) Roby, Jamie Altenburger, Stephanie Jaske, Ashley Jaske, Emily Jaske, and Christian Jaske; and nine great-grandchildren.
Donna was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Drew, and a brother in infancy, Lowell Jaberg.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana, with Rev. Allen Kahler officiating. Burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Preferred memorials can be given to Stillwater Hospice or the American Legion Post #43 Color Guard.
