Dennis G. Pannabecker, 90, of Berne, Indiana, entered his Heavenly home Wednesday evening, June 10, 2026, surrounded by his family at Swiss Village in Berne.
Dennis was born on February 25, 1936, in Grand Ledge, Michigan to the late Karl and Susie (Rogers) Pannabecker. He was united in marriage to Eva Tuckey on July 26, 1958, in Port Huron, Michigan. They were married by Eva’s father, Rev. John Tuckey.
He was a member of First Missionary Church in Berne, Indiana, and formerly a charter member of the Davison Missionary Church in Davison, Michigan.
Dennis graduated from Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana, and received his Masters of Administration from Michigan State University. Dennis retired as an elementary school teacher and also spent 20 years as an elementary principal in Davison, Michigan. He also spent time serving as a Bethel College Trustee.
Dennis’s faith was an anchor throughout his life. He was very involved in church activities as a song leader, Sunday School Teacher, and board member at the Davison Missionary Church. His hobbies included: reading, Michigan State Sports, camping, bike riding, golfing, and table games. Dennis was a very involved grandpa and grandpa great.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Pannabecker of Berne, Indiana; daughter, Denise (Brian) Habegger of Berne, Indiana; son, Daryl (Jenny) Pannabecker of Leo, Indiana; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Kevin) Baxley, Jeremy Habegger, Spencer (Ali) Pannabecker, Katie (Isaac) Beal, and Cam (Addie) Pannabecker; as well as eight great-grandchildren.
Dennis was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Kenneth Pannabecker.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2026, at First Missionary Church in Berne, Indiana, with Pastor Rick Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow at M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne, Indiana. The service will be live-streamed and can be accessed by using the link… fmcberne.com.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Preferred memorials may be given to Bethel University of Mishawaka, Indiana.
