D. Lee Wheeler

April 3, 1954 — March 17, 2026

D. Lee Wheeler, 71, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 17, 2026, at his residence.

Lee was born on April 3, 1954, in Decatur, Indiana, to the late Joseph H. Wheeler and Lois Catherine (McLaughlin) Wheeler. He was united in marriage to Laura Edwards on September 4, 1976, in Decatur, Indiana.

Lee was a 1972 graduate of South Adams High School. He dedicated over 25 years of his career to M.R. Planners before retiring. Earlier in life, he worked in construction with the Hagerman Group and Dave Schnitz.

He attended Mt. Victory United Brethren Church in Decatur. Lee found his greatest joy in the time he spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, who meant the world to him. He loved the quiet peace of fishing, the satisfaction of working with his hands through woodworking and finish carpentry, and the simple comfort of a good Western. He took pride in his collection of pocket knives and found strength and guidance in reading his Bible.
