Chauency “Lee” Wolfe, 89, a lifelong resident of Decatur, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, September 3, 2025, at Allisonville Meadows in Fishers, Indiana.
He was born on August 24, 1936, in Decatur, Indiana, the son of the late Grover and Mildred (Manley) Wolfe. On February 15, 1963, Lee was united in marriage to Donna K. Fast at Union Chapel United Methodist Church. They shared 53 years of marriage before her passing on December 21, 2016.
In the years following Donna’s passing, Lee reconnected with a high school friend, Ramona Gephart, whose companionship brought him joy and comfort in his later years.
Lee faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was a lifelong member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Decatur and also a member of the American Legion Post #43 of Decatur.
A 1954 graduate of Pleasant Mills High School, Lee retired from International Harvester after 36 years of service and later worked for Price Agriculture for 18 years. Outside of work, he loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching IU basketball and the Cubs. Lee could often be found during the evenings cheering on all his nieces and nephews during their games & matches.
Survivors include his children, LeAnn Northam of Indianapolis, Indiana; Brian (Susan) Wolfe of Decatur, Indiana; and Melinda (Cole Sylvester) Wolfe of McCordsville, Indiana; his sister, Susan (Tony) Landis of Decatur; and four grandchildren, Zach and Alison Wolfe and Blessing and Hudson Sylvester. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clyde “Dee” Wolfe.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Ernie Suman officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill (Backesto) Cemetery, with military graveside honors conducted by the Adams Post #43 Color Guard.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Preferred memorials are to American Legion Post #43 Color Guard.
