Charles "Charlie" Fuhrman

November 25, 1934 — July 30, 2025

Charles F. "Charlie" Fuhrman, 90, lifelong resident of Adams County until he moved to Delphi, Indiana in the fall of 2019, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at his residence in Delphi following a brief illness.

He was born on November 25, 1934 in Decatur, Indiana to the late Burl Fuhrman and Charlene (Barnhaus) Bailey.

On December 5, 1992, Charles was united in marriage to Joan A. Blume and she preceded him in death on September 16, 2022.

He graduated from Monmouth High School and joined the workforce with Russ Fleming before working and retiring from General Electric in Decatur in 1989 with 35 years of service. Charlie was also a long time Adams County farmer.

Charlie enjoyed working on cars and tractors in his free time. He loved sports, especially softball and bowling. Charlie was also on the practice team for the Zollner Pistons in Fort Wayne. He enjoyed remodeling homes with his wife, Joan, as well.

Survivors include his son, Kevin (Judy) Fuhrman of Decatur, Indiana; son, Gary (Diane Sanner) Fuhrman of Yoder, Indiana; son, Michael (Cindi) Fuhrman of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Frank (Eve) Fuhrman of Decatur, Indiana; step-daughter, Sherri (Craig) Cripe of Delphi, Indiana; step-daughter, Teresa (John) Nauyokas of Lafayette, Indiana; brother, Karl “Pete” Fuhrman of Syracuse, Indiana; brother, Phil Fuhrman of Indianapolis, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren, Michelle (Andy) Hackenjos, Amber Fuhrman, Jeremy (Taylor) Fuhrman, Joseph Fuhrman, Connie Jo Fuhrman, Stephen (Katie) Hernandez, Jessica (Tulson), William (Skylar) Fuhrman, Tracie Fuhrman, Chase (Mackenzie) Cripe, Hilary (Chris) Wesley, Victoria (Donovan) Weiler, and Madison McSwain; and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by a daughter, Jodi Roberts; daughter-in-law, Stacy Fuhrman; two sisters, Dorothy Louise Fuhrman in infancy and Kay Price; and a brother, Paul Fuhrman.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, with Celebrant Molly Farthing officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Magley Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.

Preferred memorials can be given to Adams County Community Foundation-Cancer Fund or the donor’s choice.
