Calvin F. Hoffman

CALVIN (Cal) F. HOFFMAN, 97, of Hoagland, IN, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Born on March 7, 1928 in Fort Wayne he was the son of the late Eli and Esther (Hobrock) Hoffman. 

Cal was a lifetime and active member of St. John Lutheran (Flatrock) Church, Monroeville. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. While working the family farm, he retired in 1984 from International Harvester after 30 years of service. After International Harvester he worked for a custom home builder; also rebuilding the family lake cottage at Lake George. 

He loved working outside, bowling, playing Euchre, mowing the woods and so many other pastimes - he was always busy! Cal was also active in the Lion’s Club and Hoagland Area Advancement Association. He loved the family farm and the Hoagland community. He was a loving family man and had an extra special place in his heart for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Janet; sons, Michael (Kathleen) Hoffman of Pendleton, IN, Larry (Debra) Hoffman of Westfield, IN and Diane (Kevin) O’Keefe of Carmel, IN. His lone surviving sibling is David (Marianne) Hoffman of Fort Wayne. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Kendall (David) Kincaid, Adam Hoffman, Jacob Hoffman, Ryan (Kirstin) Hoffman, Samuel (Hope) Hoffman, Chelsea (Brian) Rueschhoff, Austin Salsbery and his great grandchildren: Evelyn, Adaline, Eli, Ava, Reagan, Charlie, Laney, Noah, Lilah and Calvin. 

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lauren Hoffman; his brothers, Donald, Henry (infant), Ralph, Howard (infant), Gilbert and Clifford Hoffman and his sisters Eileen (Donald) Coleman and Kathleen (Wayne) Byerley. 

Funeral service is 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 31st at St John Lutheran Church - Flatrock, 12912 Franke Road, Monroeville, IN, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 4pm to 6pm on Tuesday December 30th at St John Lutheran Church – Flatrock. Burial in the church cemetery.
