Allan E. Rydell, 81, of Decatur, Indiana passed away early Wednesday morning, June 4, 2025, at Adams Heritage in Monroeville.
He was born on March 11, 1944 in Champaign, Illinois to Charles F. and Margaret E. (DeWeese) Rydell. Allan was united in marriage to Barbara Jackson in 1966, and she preceded him in death in 2001. He married Janna Richardson on December 29, 2010, and she survives.
Allan was honorably served his country in the Indiana National Guard.
Allan was a member of St. Mark’s Church and Pheasants Forever in Decatur, Indiana.
He graduated from Paxton High School in Paxton, Illinois in 1962. During his high school years, he played football and baseball. Allan began working for the Decatur Telephone Company in 1962, and retired from the company following 45 years of service. He also served on the Adams County Sheriff Reserve.
In his free time, Allan enjoyed fishing and boating in Indiana. For many years, he enjoyed traveling back to Illinois Pheasant Hunting each year with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Janna Rydell, of Decatur, Indiana; two sons, Mark (Paula) Rydell of Lake Worth, Florida and Randy (Melissa) Rydell of Decatur, Indiana; three daughters, Julie (Tony) Arsini of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jill (Kurt Bauman) Campbell and Kristy (D.J.) Haines both of Decatur, Indiana; step-daughter, Christina Thick of Simpsonville, South Carolina; step-son, Nick (Chrissy) Richardson of Estes Park, Colorado; brother, Jerry (Pat) Rydell of Paxton, Illinois; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Barbara, Allan was preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Lynn Rydell-Burwash.
Private family services will be held.
Memorials in Allan’s name can be given to St. Mark’s Church through the funeral home.
