Joyce Ann Mcahren

Joyce Ann (Daniels) McAhren, 70, went to her heavenly home on February 26, 2016 after a battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and firm belief in God ultimately gave her peace. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final days.

Joyce was born to the late Charles and Jennie (Feller) Daniels. She married John Paul McAhren, her high school sweetheart, on October 19, 1961; where together they raised five children with Christian values. Joyce was considered by her children as a loving, selfless, and dedicated mother. She is dearly missed by her loved ones.

Joyce is survived by a brother, Max L. Daniels; her children Susan (Dave) Whitener of Chesapeake, VA; Doris Singleton of Decatur; Aleta (Jerry) Coyne of Decatur; John (Becky) McAhren of Virginia Beach, VA; Kristen (Florencio) McAhren-Ortiz of Bakersfield, CA; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Joyce requested to be cremated and a private ceremony will be held. Her ashes will be interred with her husband at the family plot in Decatur Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to the family and can be made at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.
